Popeye is a laid-back, lovable, and slightly goofy companion who takes life at a gentle pace and prefers to simply be wherever his people are. He’s the definition of an easygoing shadow—happy to follow you from room to room, quietly keeping you company whether you’re cooking, working, or just moving through your day. If you’re sitting, he’ll sit with you. If you’re up, he’s up too. He just likes being near his person.

He’s mostly calm and low-key, not easily stimulated by toys or chaos, but he does enjoy his daily outings. On walks, Popeye is relaxed and polite. He’ll trot along, take a couple happy laps, do his business, and then settle into sniffing and exploring at his own pace. He’s great on leash and doesn’t pull, preferring to mind his own business and enjoy the world around him.

Popeye is also wonderfully social in his own quiet way. He’s unfazed by other dogs, at most offering a single bark before moving on with his day. In the car, he’s curious and affectionate—often sitting up front to watch the road or gently trying to rest his head on your shoulder, though he’ll also settle in the back seat when he’s ready to relax.

Affection is where Popeye truly shines. He loves to be touched, leaning into his people, resting his head on laps or chests, and staying close in that grounding, comforting way only a devoted companion can. He follows his humans everywhere, even the bathroom, and will happily sit nearby just to be part of whatever you’re doing. He’s also very housebroken, with excellent manners and no accidents, and will even let you know when it’s time to go out with a little whine near the door.

Popeye is highly trainable and food-motivated, especially for treats like apples, raw peppers, and cheese. He’ll happily show off tricks for a snack. He is also a fan of oral hygiene and loves to get his teefs brushed 🦷. He knows “speak” and sometimes joins in when other dogs are vocal, adding his own occasional bark just to be part of the conversation. He enjoys praise, responds well to his name, and genuinely likes being handled and engaged with.

Sweet, steady, and deeply people-oriented, Popeye is looking for a home where someone is around often and doesn’t mind having a constant, loving little shadow by their side.🤍🤍
